The Language Flagship graduates students who will take their place among the next generation of global professionals, commanding a superior level of fluency in one of many languages critical to U.S. competitiveness and security.
The internship component of the Chinese Overseas Flagship Program is designed to enhance each participant’s language ability and professional experience in their field of interest. Participants work closely with the Chinese Flagship Program Internship staff in Nanjing to find and secure a substantial internship with a company, organization, or institution. Participants are expected to conduct their internships in a Chinese-based setting, using their high level language skills.
Students have multiple opportunities for overseas study through the Chinese Language Flagship Program. Students are highly encouraged to study overseas during the summers and are required to spend an academic year overseas as a part of their Flagship Overseas Capstone Program (OCP) experience.
BYU Chinese Flagship administers and coordinates with American Councils, other Chinese Flagship programs, and additional test vendors to conduct various assessments throughout the Flagship experience.
Our purpose is to provide you with opportunities not only benchmarking your progress along the way but also giving you nationally and internationally recognized measures that you can add to your portfolio. The scores that you get for the tests given by BYU Chinese Flagship are usually required to apply for scholarships, jobs, overseas study, and other purposes.
